IT Support for Dentists: On Site Within Minutes When a Manchester Dental Practice Went Down
When you run a dental practice, IT isn't something you want to think about. Patients are booked in, the phones need answering and every surgery relies on a computer that just works.
This is the story of Love Teeth Dental Practice in Prestwich, and the Sunday they came in to find that nothing was working at all.
About Love Teeth Dental Practice
Dr Ilana Pine owns Love Teeth Dental Practice in Prestwich, Manchester. It's a busy practice with six surgeries, a busy reception and, in Ilana's words, lots and lots of computers and phones.
Behind that sits a server, printers, headsets, phones and everything that joins them up and makes them work. When any of it stops, patients notice.
Why Love Teeth switched to First Contact
Before working with us, the practice had been with other IT companies and come unstuck. The service wasn't good, and the questions never stopped.
"They drove us mad asking questions about technology. Do we want it like this or do we want it like that?" – Dr Ilana Pine
Ilana came to us through local recommendation, then realised she'd been at primary school with our MD, Jeremy. Now, when the practice needs something, she tells us and we take it from there. New phones or computers get a clear plan and a quote, and we handle the rest.
"With Jeremy, I find he just takes over, lets me know what's best for me and I trust him 100%." – Dr Ilana Pine
Day-to-day support
Like any business, the practice has its day-to-day issues: software playing up, things not connecting, sometimes just the Wi-Fi. Ilana doesn't need to work out which. One phone call, and we either fix it remotely straight away or come down to sort it.
"Whatever the situation, he's there and he sorts it out and it's marvellous." – Dr Ilana Pine
The Sunday nothing worked
Love Teeth opens on Sundays, which not many businesses do. One Sunday, the team came in and found that nothing was working at all. Ilana suspected the server, but she wasn't about to start poking at it.
"I'm too scared to touch it to be honest, so I got straight on the phone to Jeremy and he must have been down within about three minutes." – Dr Ilana Pine
She's still not sure where he was. Possibly the restaurant next door. But he was there, and that's what counted.
Why it matters
For a dental practice, downtime means patients waiting, appointments slipping and a reception team with no way to work. Good IT support means having people who know your setup, answer the phone and turn up, even out of hours.
It also means you don't have to become an IT expert. As Ilana puts it, First Contact has helped her focus on what she does best, which is the dentistry.
"You won't be disappointed. All my staff here really like all the team at First Contact. Highly recommended." – Dr Ilana Pine, Owner, Love Teeth Dental Practice
